Action thriller Underwater adds Iron Fist’s Jessica Henwick and Deadpool’s T.J. Miller to a cast headlined by Kristen Stewart.

According to Variety, the gestating Underwater project is close to landing some co-stars with Jessica Henwick and T.J. Miller in final negotiations to join Kristen Stewart in the deep-sea action epic. Miller stars as entrepreneur Erlich Bachman on the HBO comedy series “Silicon Valley,” which begins its fourth season next month. Miller’s other credits include “Cloverfield,” “Deadpool,” “Office Christmas Party,” and the upcoming “Ready Player One.” British actress Henwick has credits on “Game of Thrones” as Nymeria Sand, X-wing pilot Jess Pava in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and Colleen Wing in the upcoming Netflix series “Iron Fist.”

Kristen Stewart is attached to the film, which follows a crew of underwater researchers who must scramble to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory.

In the director’s chair for Underwater will be burgeoning helmer Will Eubank, who previously worked on some sci-fi-themed dramas in 2014’s The Signal and 2011’s Love. Eubank will work off a script by Brian Duffield, who worked on the 2016 Natalie Portman Western Jane Got a Gun and the 2015 second part of the tumult-stricken Divergent YA film franchise Insurgent.

Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Tonia Davis are producing, while Kevin Holloran is executive producing. Fox-based Chernin is a producer on “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” and “Hidden Figures,” which was nominated for best picture at the Oscars. It’s also producing several upcoming high-profile Fox titles, including the Amy Schumer-Goldie Hawn action-comedy “Snatched,” franchise entry “War for the Planet of the Apes,” Idris Elba’s romance-adventure “The Mountain Between Us,” and Hugh Jackman’s P.T. Barnum biopic “The Greatest Showman.”

Underwater is currently planned to commence production in New Orleans sometime this month.
